3.  Computers / Printers

Please comply with the procedure for ordering replacement equipment as outlined on this page and ensure that adequate records are kept and sign off is in accordance with established procedures.

 

4.  Data Recovery

5.  Network Equipment

6.  Network Faults

7.   AV Equipment in Teaching Rooms – Projectors, PC’s, DVD Players etc.

All notification of AV equipment failure should be sent to AV Services who will deal with replacement

8.   Furniture/Chairs/Filing Cabinets

Padraig Lynch – General Services – Ext. 2251

Full inventory of items flood damaged under this heading and to be replaced, should be prepared and sent to Padraig Lynch who will deal with replacement of these items

9.  Motors/Tractor

Ruth Horgan – Office of Corporate and Legal Affairs – Ext. 2481

University vehicles damaged in the floods should be  reported to Ruth Horgan and should not be moved before assessment.

10 Books, Journals, DVD’s etc - lost due to water damage

[University not Personal property]

In respect of such items please complete the attached template and mail to corporatesec@ucc.ie

Template - Please ensure sign off by Head of Department before submission

 

2. Re Replacement of Computer Equipment and Printers

If your computer or printer has been submersed in water or otherwise damaged in the flooding please deal with replacement as follows:

1.    Do not plug in or switch on any electrical equipment until it has been checked in conjunction with Buildings and Estates

2.    If the computer or printer has been water damaged - label it with the location [Room Number], Building, Office and User– Photograph the equipment.

3.    Damaged computer equipment from each affected department should be listed and the full list sent to: corporatesec@ucc.ie

4.    In consultation with your Head of Department order the new equivalent piece of computer equipment through Denis O’Sullivan in the Computer Centre using a purchase order and  use a specific code available from Cormac McSweeney in the Finance Office – See his e-mail reproduced below.

5.    If you wish the Computer Centre to attempt retrieval of the data on your PC, please call the Computer Centre Helpdesk at telephone 490 2120. Retain the system unit of the computer until Computer Centre staff have retrieved its hard disk(s).

6.    General Services will take the damaged equipment into storage, including PCs where data retrieval has been attempted, for later examination/inspection by Loss Adjusters on behalf of our Insurers.

7.    The Department/Unit will be re-imbursed in due course once insurance claims have been settled.

8.    It is essential that only computer equipment in direct contact with the flood water is replaced.

 

3. Personal Items / Effects

Unfortunately personal effects are not covered by University insurances and should be claimed for under home/personal policies if cover is available
